School Kidnapped Me.

by Aqua

Whoops! I didn’t die.

SAIT has had the majority of my attention over the past several months. It’s actually been a lot less scary than I was anticipating it would be, but I tend to be a paranoid person. :c I’m in a New Media program which means I’m doing a lot of computery stuff, including designing a magazine, learning how to code (though I knew the majority of the things being taught in our HTML/CSS class already), and making a simple quiz/game in Flash. It’s actually been pretty enjoyable and I fit in fairly well with my classmates. If anyone wants me to write a bit more on that subject just let me know. For now I’ll keep it brief and get on with the artsy things. :D

Steel Team – Stella Argyris

by Aqua

Steel Team

Although I have a pokemon trainer based on my frequent alias, Aqua Mizuko, I thought it might be fun to toy with a themed trainer. Since the steel typing is high on my favourites I decided to create a team around it. Though it has already been pointed out that this team isn’t 100 percent steel, two thirds of the team being so makes the it in the majority.

(Yes there’s a legendary but I wanted to have fun with that at some point, Aqua’s team is all non-legendary! I’ll have to draw it at some point.)

Along with the picture I’ve written short descriptions for each team member. Click the link if you’re interested in learning more about them..

More Pokemon, with animation.

by Aqua

Dear Self,

When you upload stuff you should write a journal entry right after, not forget about it until weeks later.

Oh well, I’m writing before the month is over at least. It’s just pokemon art but at least there’s some variety.

Lugia day_at_the_beach_by_aquamizuko Relicanth Flying Mew

Two of these were random birthday pictures, which gave me an excuse to draw species I don’t normally draw (relicanth, which confused me the first while I saw the sprite in Sapphire; and lugia, a pokemon I actually like but never draw). Gallade was a tegaki drawing that pissed me off at first because I had to draw the gallade twice. The first time, it apparently didn’t recognise that I was continuing a save and when I went to send the finished product, went “Woop! I’ll add the original save!” However, it worked out in the end, as often times I’ll redo something at it’ll look better the second time than it did the first.

The mew animation is a little old, but it’s the first time in a while that I’ve tried to animate something where the whole character actually -moves-. I should probably attempt to finish it but I know that’ll be a lot more work than the sketch was. At least it’s reasonably smooth.

I’ll probably make another update tonight with a another random pokemon related thing.

Oh, I also divided my gallery into categories, we’ll see how that works out. Order is good (sometimes).

Of Commissions and Pokeymans.

by Aqua

I’d write that I should update this thing more often, but that true of almost everywhere I add stuff to except maybe deviantART. *sigh*

I’ve been kind of lazy on the drawing/writing/etc front as of late, though. On the personal front I have Tegaki doodles but not a lot else. I have done a few commissions, however.. It’s nice that I’m actually getting those now and then; it’s nice to know that my art is decent enough that people are willing to pay for it.

Plas the Tiger Polter

One of the good things about commissions is they can get me to draw things I don’t draw very often. That’s mostly with the first picture here; I rarely, if ever draw felines. While it’s anthropomorphic I generally still have difficulties anyway, often with the head shape and muzzle.. The picture turned out better than I expected it to though. I feel sorry for morphball Samus! The second picture was finished a couple of days ago. I actually tried something new while I was drawing it.. While taking a short break from inking I noticed a news post to Digg with screen shot programs. One of these was InstantShot!, which is able to automatically take screenshots every whatever amount of seconds (I kept it at the default of one per five seconds). I decided to use InstantShot! to record the rest of the work on my picture. Making it YouTube friendly ended up being somewhat challenging for some reason, but I got it to work somehow with iMovie HD. Here’s the result, for anyone that might be interested..

Current addiction.

by Aqua

Though I had mostly been in a pokémon phase for a while, I’ve gotten myself hooked on an anime somehow. But it’s an awesome one!

mizuzu_kichichi Keron Sketch Dump

Keroro Gunso! ..I actually mentioned it in my last post. This was my version of Nova and my characters. The second drawing is doodles of characters from the show.. It should be obvious which two are my favourites as the majority of the doodles are of them. :D;

Kururu and Giroro kind of continue my trend of favourites.. Kururu (the one with the spiral glasses) is a twisted genius who screws with everyone all the time (I’m trying to figure out if his “crush” on Giroro is that or if he just wants to be a pain in the ass.. Probably the latter imo). Giroro likes to act like a tough guy and seems to associate everything with war and the battleground, yet gets embarrassed pretty easily (especially if it involves his huge crush on Natsumi) and is actually not too mean. It’s too bad I got in the Keroro bandwagon a bit late — the original manga has been around since the late ’90s I think? That tends to be what happens to me though. :c

Besides anthro frogs, I’ve been trying to work on my human anatomy as well. It’d be nice to be better at it before I start college; I don’t think they want to just see fanart and dragons and crap. It’s something I’ve wanted to work on for a while, anyway. That and poses, since I tend to draw things in a bit of a dull way. I think I’ve improved since last year though.

Where my money has been going..

by Aqua

*cough* Been a month since I last touched this, oops.

I’m fairly new to the commissioning thing for the most part, both on the recieving and giving ends. There’s not a lot of people that give you free art anymore though, not that this is a bad thing; if you have talent you deserve to get some sort of payment for the effort. When I saw that one of my favourite artists (who’s art is sadly scarce now) was taking commissions, I jumped at the opportunity. XD One of their drawings is on the last entry, the tall unshaded picture of Morithias. I decided to have them take a stab at Aqua as well..

Aqua by Jenna

She looks rather neat in Jenna’s style. :D I like the eyes especially for some reason.. I guess because they’re more “real” than Aqua’s normal eyes, which are still basically borrowed from Kirby. Bah.

Aqua by Sonia

I’ve also had another person make me this pretty drawing of Aqua in her human, pokemon trainer form. Thanks Pochi-chan! I think I may use human Aqua more often – I need to practise my human art anyway.. As much as I like doodling fanart and other things, if I want an illustration/art related job one day I’ll have to be able to draw them, among other things.

Mizuzu and Kichichi by Nova

This final one actually wasn’t a commission, but a surprise from my friend Nova. I’ve been on quite the Keroro kick lately and as she and I both created Keronian versions of ourselves. I had to make a drawing of them. In turn, she made the picture above. *envies her gorgeous backgrounds* XD

That’s all for now.. I’ll have to start posting some more of my own stuff. :x

Pretty pictures and some character info.

by Aqua

As this isn’t a writing-only blog (actually, writing is only a small part of the things I create), I come bearing artwork. Though, I think I’ll post stuff that isn’t mine first. DIRTY THIEF?? Actually these are pictures drawn for me. :D Since I can’t upload everything that’s been drawn for me – there’d be too much to add – I’ve uploaded my favourite renditions of my characters. Hovering over the pictures will show you who drew them.

Morithias

Morithias by Nova Morithias by Jazzy Morithias by Aura
Morithias by Irene Morithias by Jenna Morithias by Kilara

These are of my time dragon character Morithias (and Aqua, in the first drawing). Thankfully I’ve had him drawn by some really talented people such as those that did these six pictures. The 4th one is actually one I have in physical possession (thanks again Irene!). Half of these I paid for.. I remember mentioning selling art to a member of my family once and getting a funny look at the idea of someone buying art they couldn’t actually ~own~. But whether it’s on paper or on a screen, they’re nice to look at either way (unless you have a headache). And people buy non-physical things all the time.. *ponders asking for another commission from one of these people* >_>

Morithias was originally designed on a whim then entered in a contest to get a Draik on Neopets, which is when I wrote his story. I didn’t win, but I got a draik potion later anyway. He’s one of my favourite characters right now.

Nia – Becoming One

by Aqua

Becoming One

The Brilliant Scientist

It was late in the evening as I sat in my chair, scribbling notes and thoughts into my private journal. If all went well, the theory I had was about to be proven correct. My life had hardly even started and I was planning extraordinary things that most people could only dream of. When I only a year old – a mere infant – I could already speak and was learning to read. My parents recognized my potential and sent me to prestigious schools. Now here I was, a few months shy of my 15th birthday; I had my own well-equipped lab with only the best tools available. In my hopes to better understand quantum mechanics, I had created a device that would reveal dimensions other than my own, enabling one to move between them. Although most thought of me as a prodigy, they were skeptical that this was possible, if I were even right.

New Scribble Blog.

by Aqua

Every one of these things needs an intro post, I guess, so here goes~.

While I have my main site, Curlicues, it’s more formal and portfolio-eque and thus I can’t add as many random things as I’d like to it. Sure, I have my deviantART account and to post drawings to, but it’d be nice to give more of the stuff I add there and elsewhere a home on my own site as well. Plus, I have bits of writing that need to go somewhere (I know dA supports stories, but I see my use of it as drawings only).

Another reason is I need somewhere to add my favourite renditions of my characters. Others need to see the pretty art!

Digital Illusions will be the home to those things. While there are still kinks to be worked out and I have to decide if I like the organization I have going on, I’m hoping it won’t take too long to complete.. Need to tweak the layout as well. *pokes random green lady at the top* Somehow I’ve managed to tweak the coding of this wordpress to my will … to a degree. But better than nothing because I don’t really know PHP, only HTML and CSS (and basic C from SAIT that’s collecting dust in my brain). *attempts to change the Polish showing on the search page right now since she remembers its there*

Many posts will likely end up being hidden behind “Read more.”s If they’re long.

That’s all for now, I’ll continue tweaking this and trying to make it pretty.

Ryenorth – Oblivion

by Aqua

Oblivion

You see me as I am now. Looking as a wraith-like and shadowy figure. My eyes pierce the darkness, don’t they? Do not be afraid. Though I am easily capable of harm, I have no wish to do so. At least I do not at the moment. But things were not always like this for me, or for my people. Once our forms were bright and varied, and we lived happily in a grand city. Though I was not yet born when the event took place, the memory was passed down to me from my mother. Where she is now, I do not know. As soon as I was old enough I was on my own. Enough about myself though, my personal story is not that important.
